Jan Ullrich, the former German cycling star who won the Tour de France in 1997, has finally admitted to doping during his career. Ullrich, who was once considered a national hero in Germany, had long denied any wrongdoing, but he has now changed his tune.

FiIn a recent interview with the German magazine Focus, Ullrich said that he used performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) from 1993 to 2000. He said that he did so because he felt like he had to do whatever it took to win. "I was young and naive," Ullrich said. "I didn't think about the consequences of my actions." Ullrich's admission comes after years of pressure from the media and anti-doping authorities. He was stripped of his Olympic gold medal in 2012, and he has been banned from cycling for life.
