Foreign Tourism Boost: April Sees $2.405 Billion in Revenue

Foreign tourism left 2 thousand 405 million dollars in April, according to an article from The Observatorial. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the tourism industry worldwide. In the first half of 2020, tourist arrivals fell globally by more than 65 percent, with a near halt since April, compared with 8 percent during the global financial crisis and 17 percent amid the SARS epidemic of 2003. Tourism receipts worldwide are not expected to recover to 2019 levels until 2023.

In Italy, tourism is one of the economic sectors of the country, with 65 million tourists per year (2019) according to ISTAT, making it the fifth most visited country in international tourism arrivals.

The tourism sector directly generates more than five percent of the national GDP and represents over six percent of the employed. In India, the number of foreign tourist arrivals decreased from 2.74 million in 2020 to 1.52 million in 2021, registering a negative growth of 44.5%.
