Mercato Update: Francesco Farioli Nearing Appointment as OGC Nice Coach

Francesco Farioli is reportedly in pole position to become the new manager of OGC Nice, succeeding Didier Digard. Fabio Grosso, who was previously a rival for the position, has reportedly agreed to take over as the new coach of Sampdoria, making Farioli the favorite for the OGC Nice job. Farioli is an Italian professional football manager who was most recently head coach of Turkish Super League club Alanyaspor.

He has also held talks with at least three Serie A clubs in addition to considering proposals from Portugal and Spain. Farioli previously worked with Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi as a goalkeeper coach at Sassuolo.

Francesco Farioli is a 34-year-old Italian professional football manager who has been involved in coaching since 2009. He started his career as a goalkeeping coach with Margine Coperta from 2009 to 2011. He then worked as a goalkeeping coach at Fortis Juventus and Lucchese before moving to Qatar with the Aspire Academy, the Qatar U17 team, and Aspire Academy. He later worked as a goalkeeping coach for Benevento and Sassuolo before becoming an assistant manager at Alanyaspor in 2020. After serving as an assistant manager at Alanyaspor, Farioli was appointed as the head coach of Fatih Karagumruk in 2021.

He is currently the head coach of Turkish Super Lig club Alanyaspor. Farioli is a UEFA Pro licensed coach and is a renowned speaker on coaching matters, regularly invited to conferences by the likes of Barcelona, La Liga, and the Belgian FA. According to those who know him best, Farioli is a good communicator who loves to create a bond that extends to every department of a club. He’s viewed as thoughtful, with a dedicated and hard-working attitude.
