Nigel Farage’s Bank Account Terminated: Brexit Figure No Longer Wealthy Enough

Nigel Farage, the former leader of the Brexit Party and UKIP, had his bank account with Coutts closed because he fell below the financial threshold required to hold an account at the prestigious private bank for the wealthy. It is understood that he was subsequently offered a standard account at NatWest which owns Coutts. Farage initially claimed that his account had been shut for political reasons and that he was turned down by seven other lenders when he went elsewhere. However, sources at the bank said that his accounts were closed because he fell below the financial threshold required by Coutts. Farage has since been rejected from several other banks and claimed he was a victim of “the big corporate structures who did not want Brexit to happen”
