Into the Games Down Under: ARD and ZDF’s Journey into the World of Sports

ARD has geared all channels to “Down Under” for the World Cup. In addition to linear transmission, ARD will also offer live streams of the games on their website. ZDF, on the other hand, does not have any specific programming related to the games in Australia. However, ZDF Studios has acquired the rights to several Australian TV shows, including “Shiff” and “Dance Academy”.

While “Down Under” is a common phrase used to refer to Australia, it is also the title of a 2016 film. In 2007, ARD and ZDF decided to stop broadcasting the Tour de France, but they have since acquired the rights to broadcast other sporting events, such as the Tour Down Under in 2010.

Most recently, ARD and ZDF were listed by FIFA as broadcasters for the Women’s World Cup in Australia. Finally, an article on ESPN mentions a soccer match between Sunderland and Stoke City, in which a player went down under a challenge from an opposing player
